Pennsylvania TBI Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- More than 245,000 Pennsylvanians are currently living with brain injury
- More than 2,000 fatalities due to traumatic brain injury occur each year in Pennsylvania.
- Nearly 8,000 Pennsylvanians are hospitalized due to traumatic brain injuries from car accidents, work place accidents, falls, assaults, sports accidents and other injuries.
- An additional 41,000 are treated in hospital emergency rooms for concussion and mild brain injury.
- Estimates indicate that each year, about 3,000 Pennsylvania citizens become severely disabled by brain injury.
